TSM achieves ISO14001 environmental management accreditation

Traffic Safety & Management is committed to running a sustainable business that operates to the highest professional standards. This sees us continually striving for excellence, following a programme of continual improvement, consistently delivering on our promises and demonstrating best practices in all that we do. By building our business on such core values as sustainability, environmental protection, health & safety, equality & diversity, social impact, data protection and human rights, we aim to remain at the forefront of our industry.

Testament to our commitment, we were the first traffic management company to achieve ISO 9001:2015 for our cloud-based paperless system, an accreditation that has been instrumental in helping us to secure long term works with county councils and local authorities across the UK and such leading-edge companies as Balfour Beatty.

With sustainability and social impact key to our future plans, we aim to minimise the effect our traffic management solutions have on the environment by using the best practicable means at our disposal. To this end, we continually improve our environmental performance by monitoring our progress against targets and objectives on a regular basis and fully complying with the legal duties we have under relevant environmental legislation.

ISO14001 certification
Having developed an environmental management system (EMS) that follows the ISO’s recommendations for best practice, which has now been audited by an ISO-approved Auditor, we are delighted to have been fully accredited with ISO 14001:2015 certification.

This is the internationally recognised standard for the environmental management of businesses, which aims to control those activities that have an effect on the environment, and enables us to maintain our position as one of the UK’s foremost providers of leading-edge traffic management solutions.

Steps we have taken to achieve this award include:

  • Identifying any risk of pollution to land or watercourses arising from our activities and taking appropriate means of elimination or control to meet or exceed the requirements of environmental legislation.
  • Controlling to the lowest practicable level any aspects of our operations that impact upon the local community, such as air emissions, malodorous and noise from processes or traffic.
  • Ensuring vehicles operate at maximum efficiency to minimise environmental impact.
  • Utilising resources that have the least adverse impact on the environment.
  • Minimising waste products and recycling where possible.
  • Seeking assurance when procuring from third parties that their products or services can be used, handled, stored and disposed of in a manner that safeguards the environment and the health & safety of all those who may be affected.

To ensure our policies and procedures are adhered to at every level of our operation, we ensure all our employees, contractors and subcontractors are aware of their responsibility and agree to comply fully with TSM’s processes and standards. It goes without saying that any concerns or complaints, whether from staff members or the general public, are dealt with promptly and transparently.
